Vivian V. Locken


Vivian V. Locken, 100, of Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.
Vivian Virginia Voigt Locken of Aberdeen, SD was born on August 22, 1922, to Ervin Friedrich and Clara (Severson) Voigt at her grandparents’ home north of Groton, SD. She was raised in the Groton area and attended grade school and high school, graduating with the class of 1940.
She worked at the Fred Frommel Insurance and Real Estate office out of High School and in 1942 began work with the Brown County Treasurers office in Aberdeen. She worked there for 27 years. She was a member of Scandinavia Lutheran Church and enjoyed all church activities. She enjoyed various craft clubs, crossword puzzles, cards, reading, traveling, extension club, Dorcus circle, church quilters, and League of Women Voters.
She was married to LeRoy Locken on November 19, 1944. They were blessed with four children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Their children are Marsha James, Sioux Falls, SD, Dale (Susan) Locken, Akaska, SD, Debra (Steven) Ellsworth, Lawrence KS, and Kevin (Barbara) Locken, Gotha, Florida. Thier granddaughter is Michaela Gragert of Elkhorn, Nebraska. Grandsons are Brian (Alicia) James, Sioux Falls, SD, Nathan (Beth) Locken, Aberdeen, SD, Michael (Nicole) Locken, Broomfield, Colorado, Bradley (Bailey Louderback) Locken, Akaska, SD, Matthew Ellsworth, Lawrence, Kansas. Six great-granddaughters, Emma Grobe, Lincoln, Nebraska, Addie Gragert and Emme Gragert, Elkhorn, Nebraska. Airlie Locken, Broomfield, Colorado, Isabella Locken and Elliana Locken, Aberdeen, SD. Great-grandson Jackson Locken of Broomfield, Colorado, and one sister Jean Walter of Groton, SD.
She is proceeded in death by her husband LeRoy, son Kevin who passed away on October 19, 2013, parents Ervin and Clara Voigt, two sisters Myrtis Larson and Lorraine Pasch, three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Beverly Voigt.
