Virginia passed away at St. John of God Skilled Care Center in Los Angeles.

Virginia, daughter of Herman and Emma (Aslakson) Bartz, was born in Waubay South Dakota.  She grew up in Aberdeen graduating from Central High School with class of 1943. She then attended Mankato Commercial College, Mankato, MN. She returned to Aberdeen and there met and married her husband of thirty-five years, Casper Joseph “Cap” Ochs.

Virginia and Casper were enthusiastic bowlers.  Virginia was a WICA Champion several times over. Together they attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church and raised two sons, Douglas Joel Ochs, deceased, and Owen Mark Ochs.  Always the caretaker, Virginia moved to Sun City California in 2000 to care for her sister Norma. There she shared line dancing and working puzzles with new friends, most especially Sally Mollinet and her sister’s daughter-in-law, Diane Gilmore.

Survivors include her sister, Norma Charlotte (Bartz) Gilmore, Sun City, CA, her son, Owen Ochs, Sioux Falls, SD and grandchildren, Benjamin Ochs of Fargo, ND and Patricia (Bartz) Kunz of Eureka, SD.

She was proceeded in death by her husband and one son.
