Vernon Korab, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Vernon was born on June 12, 1939, to Edwin and Lydia (Pisha) Korab. He was raised on their family farm by his father and stepmother, Esther, alongside his siblings, Esther, Edith, and Jeanette. During his time on the farm, he showed hogs in 4H with his father.

He attended Sunnyside Country School for his early education. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1958.

In July of 1959, Vernon served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Amarillo, Texas, and was honorably discharged.

Vernon worked in a variety of positions throughout his life, but he spent most of his career at K.O. Lee Company and Sacred Heart School.

In 1966, Vernon was united in marriage to Anna Hehn. Together, they had two children, Calvin and Marsha.

Some of Vernon’s favorites include IH Tractors, hot rod tractor pulls, playing pool, and attending any event his granddaughters were participating in. Vernon always made sure to share entertaining stories about his life experiences with them.

He also enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities – Vernon and his wife, Anna, took many trips together. They also liked attending old-car shows. Above all, Vernon loved his family, grandchildren, and the Lord. He will be deeply missed.

Grateful for having shared Vernon’s life is his wife of 60 years, Anna; his children, Calvin (Mickie) Korab, and Marsha (Nels) Olson; and his granddaughters, Katie, April, and Haley.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents.
