Shirley Ann (Mettler) Bonnet, 96, of Cody, Wyoming passed away on February 15, 2026 at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody.

Shirley was united in marriage to Ervin Bonnet on December 4, 1948 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple were blessed with three children, Ronnie, Julie, and Cindy. Shirley worked at the School for the Visually Handicapped in Aberdeen for over 20 years. Upon her and Ervin’s retirement, from the John Morrill Co., the pair pulled up stakes and moved to Cody, Wyoming.

Shirley’s skill was cooking and baking, which brought a cast of characters to her kitchen table. She loved to camp and her secret hobby was fishing Mobridge and Akaska on Lake Oahe in South Dakota, in a 16-foot Lund boat with a 25 HP motor.

Shirley was a true believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and was not afraid to express those feelings to all, including her friends and especially her family.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Julie (Bob) Anderson of Bismarck, North Dakota, Cindy Peterson of Cody, Wyoming, daughter-in-law Jeanne (Ronnie) Bonnet of Cody, Wyoming, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. In addition, Shirley is also survived by her sister Janette Jankauskas of Cody, Wyoming and sister-in-law Sally Mettler of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, son Ronnie, two brothers Clifford and Reinie Mettler, and great-great granddaughter Rune.

Rev. Dr. Ron and Mrs. Betty Garwood, Rev. Kenneth Mars, and Kay Oelschlager have a special spot in the hearts of Shirley’s family. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Cody Reginal Health, Cody Reginal Long Term Care, and the Cody Spirit Mountain Hospice House.
