Ruth Miller, 87 of Aberdeen, SD passed away Monday, April 10, 2023.

Ruth Miller was born on April 29, 1935, to August and Bertha Miller near Ventura, ND. She grew up on the family farm in North Dakota until moving to the farm near Ashton, SD when she was 10. Ruth graduated from Redfield High School and started working for Spink County Co-op as a bookkeeper. After a few years she moved to Aberdeen where she worked as a bookkeeper for Artz Camera Supply. In 1957 she started her 40-year career at Wheat Growers as a bookkeeper and eventually became the Corporate Secretary of South Dakota Wheat Growers.

Selfless, generous and kind. Available, upright and intelligent. Ruth Miller was many things but maybe none describe her more than those six words. Ruth would find joy in today and not let her happiness be the hostage of tomorrow. Ruth was a model of what it means to be Christ’s hands and feet on this earth. She helped any with a need. She gave of her time and money. She gave until it hurt. She was not afraid to get into the trenches of the downtrodden. She never met a stranger. She was never a mother yet took care of so many. She had a love and burden for those that were hurting in the local Native American community. While Ruth was recognized on earth for her heart, such as winning the Service to Mankind award from the Sertoma Club, she never did anything for recognition. Surely, she is now receiving her reward in the arms of her Heavenly Father. A lady once called Ruth and said, “I haven’t eaten for three days and my brother tells me there is a lady in town that if you call her, she will bring you food. Are you that lady?” She had food in her fridge within the hour. “Truly I tell, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

Grateful for having shared Ruth’s life are her twin brother Reuben (Alice) Miller, brother Joe (Margaret) Miller, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents August and Bertha Miller, brother Theodore (Gertrude) Miller, sister Jeanette (Ralph) Lutter, brother Leo (Dorothy) Miller
