Reinhold 'Reinie' Delzer


Reinhold ‘Reinie’ Delzer, 91, of Aberdeen, SD, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Reinhold ‘Reinie’ Delzer was born May 19, 1932, at Venturia, ND to Theodore & Ida (Feil) Delzer. He attended Venturia elementary school and graduated in 1952 from Ashley (ND) High School. During the summers, he worked for farmers around the Venturia and Ashley area. Reinie entered the Army in September 1952 and released in 1954 and served in the Korean War where he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1961. After completing the armed services he moved to Aberdeen, SD. He worked for Swansons bus depot, Arcola Grocery, Ken’s Super Fair Foods and Avera St. Luke’s dietary, retiring in 1997.
Reinie married Elma Gahner on April 14, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Aberdeen. He lived his entire married life in Aberdeen. Reinie and Elma had four children, Jane, Harley, Glenda and Glen. He liked the challenge of word find puzzles and enjoyed the outdoors working in the yard. Reinie was very fussy with the lawn. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was an usher for many years.
Grateful for having shared Reinie’s life are his wife Elma Delzer; children: Jane (Raymond) Barke, Harley Delzer, Glenda (Daryl) Johnson, and Glen (Marla) Delzer; grandchildren: Maria (Jeremy) Fish, Jason (Amanda) Barke, Sandra (Dennis) Shook, Karla Holsworth, Samantha (Matt) Oswald, Aaron (Gayli) Delzer, Ryan Delzer, Bethel (Tyler) O’Connell; great-grandchildren: Paige, Tevin, Jazmin, Cole, Kenzie, Abby, TJ, Michael, Madison, Kelly, Christy, Anna and Grace, great-great-grandchildren, Savannah, Lane and Skylar.
Preceding Reinie in death are his parents, Theodore & Ida Delzer; step-mother; Amelia (Rieger) Delzer; great-grandchildren, Justice and Kaden Barke and Deborah Huckaby; sister, Verna Roswich; and step-sister, Edna Rieger.
