Patricia "Patty" Wiedmeier

Patricia ‘Patty’ Wiedmeier, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, died Friday, December 5, 2025, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Patricia ‘Patty’ Louise Schwingler was born November 29, 1933, to Joseph and Bertha Schwingler at Java, SD. She was raised by her grandmother, Theresa, until age 8. She attended country school through 8th grade.
On November 24, 1952, Patricia married the love of her life, Julius Wiedmeier. They made their home near Hosmer, SD. In 1955, they moved to Aberdeen, SD, where they raised their family and built a life.
Julius and Patty never missed a chance to dance. Polkas and waltzes were their favorites at the VFW, where they shared the floor with many dear friends. One memorable day, all the dancing couples purchased adjacent plots at Sunset Memorial Gardens, so they could rest together for eternity. Her final dance ended on December 5th. Patty is the last one to join the rest of the dance couples.
Patty and Julius lived to camp, fish, travel, and garden, but most of all, be with their grandchildren.
Patty worked for Fishers Cleaning Service in Aberdeen, SD, for many years. She truly enjoyed her work and treasured the many friendships she made along the way.
In 2023, Patty celebrated her 90th birthday. Musician Bill Schwan played many of her favorite songs on the accordion and keyboard. It was a day filled with joy for everyone present.
In 2024, Patty proudly danced once more with one of her grandsons at his wedding. Although she had a hard time walking, nothing could keep her off that dance floor when it mattered most.
Patty enjoyed coffee with friends at McDonald’s, visiting, playing games, attending the Brown County Fair, helping the mat ladies at church, and speaking German.
She spent 33 days at Bethesda Nursing Center, and she welcomed the transition of living there, with weekly hair appointments, manicures, great food, and even happy hour. Patty and her family will be forever grateful for the exceptional care provided by Marla and the entire staff.
Patty will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, her sense of humor, her love of music and dancing, and the deep devotion she showed her family and friends. Her legacy of love will continue through all who were blessed to know her.
Grateful for having shared Patricia’s life are her children: Linda (Fred) Rauscher, Ronald Wiedmeier, and Sheila (Steve) Natwick; sister: Nancy (Darrell) McClung; special dog Toby; grandchildren: Whitney Rauscher, Nicole Wiedmeier, Christy (Junior) Wiedmeier, Joseph (Kristy) Wiedmeier, Adam (Millicent) Natwick, Tiffany Ramsey (Reyes), Lucas (Kendra) Natwick, and Jacob (Mandy) Natwick; 11 great-grandchildren: Akaiya, Emily, Ella, Carter, Carson, Berlyn, Julius Jr., Anthony, Grace, Kirby, and Elijah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patty was also joyfully expecting two more great-grandchildren, Baby boy Gus in January and Baby girl in February.
