Lovila Hanson, 95, of Aberdeen, SD, passed June 24th.

Lovila M. Jark was born to William N. and Bernice (Jarrett) Jark in Aberdeen, SD. She attended elementary through high school in Stratford, and after graduating from Northern State University, she taught elementary school for several years. She married Robert J. Hanson of Columbia and they farmed all their lives in the Stratford area, before retiring and moving to Aberdeen.

Lovila was a member of the Stratford Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, the Rebekah Lodge at Stratford and the Order of the Western Star at Warner. While living in Stratford, she taught Sunday school and Bible school for several years, also helping with youth and community projects. She enjoyed fishing with her family, often catching the most in the boat! Lovila was an excellent seamstress, sewing everything from school clothing to prom dresses. She was a voracious reader and an excellent writer, researching and composing numerous speeches for her husband as the county and state president of NFO. After moving to Aberdeen, she joined Plymouth Congregational Church and soon was employed by the Johnny Cavelle Dance Studio. She later spent many years working in the Aberdeen Herbergers store, enjoying helping her many returning customers, while making lasting friendships with co-workers.

She is survived by her three children - Lori (Todd) Limoges, Greg Hanson (Melba), Karen (Rick) Enger, seven grandchildren – Jordan Limoges, Conner (Trevor) O ‘Dowd, Taylor Limoges, Peyton Limoges, Tyler Hanson, Alexzandra Enger, Jaxson Enger, one step-grandchild, Michael Vancleave, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother Kenneth Jark and husband, Robert Hanson.
