Loretta L. Atkinson

With great sadness, we share the passing of our dear mother Loretta Lee Nelson Atkinson who has joined the angels, on 24 April 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Loretta, the daughter of Gust Adolph Nelson and Emma Matilda Sand of Bristol, South Dakota. Loretta was born January 27th, 1939, and baptized March 26th, 1939, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Bristol, S.D. Loretta met Vernon in Aberdeen, S.D. and they married December 20th, 1958. Through the years they lived in South Dakota, Washington State and made their final home Billings, Montana in 1974.

Loretta had her hands full raising their 6 boys and later two of her lovely granddaughters for a short time. She had degree in wrestling between in the middle of a lot of boys, feeding an army on a dime, and how she loved to dance!

Loretta will be greatly missed and is survived by her son Todd (Kristie) of Billings, MT, James (Kaoru) of Por Orchard, WA, Rick (Andrea) of Greely, CO, Grandchildren Jennifer (Michael),Christopher, Jessica, James, Anthony, Noah, Sarah, Cassie (Jacob), Nathaniel (Kaycee), great grandchildren Kayleigh, Elijah, Braydon, Zayne, Aspen, great-great granddaughter Paeyton, and daughters in law Judy (Gillette, WY) Jackie (Billings, MT).

Preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arnold, and sister Edna, her loving husband Vernon, of 38 years, sons Wayne, Marvin and Edward and her great granddaughter Teegan.
