Lois Mae (Carlson) Clemensen, 94, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, February 20, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Lois Mae Carlson was born on September 2, 1929, to Theodore ‘Ted’ and Mabel Carlson in Brentford, SD. She had one sister, Ramona (Carlson) Becker. Lois grew up in Brentford and attended Brentford Public School. She was active in school events: Carnival Queen, Cheerleader, public speaking awards and Valedictorian of her class her senior year in high school. She attended Northern State College and received her two-year “Teaching Certificate” in 1948. Shortly after college she and her high school sweetheart, Robert ‘Rob’ Clemensen were married on November 25, 1950, at the Brentford Congregational Church.

Lois and Rob had three children (Jan, Lon, and Hal) who were raised on the family farm located between Brentford and Conde, SD. Lois worked as a teacher for many years and worked at The Conde People’s Bank, along with helping with the farm life. After their children had finished high school, Lois and Rob would winter in Mesa, AZ, where they participated in golfing, card playing, and social life activities.

Lois thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge. She was active in church groups, Bible Study, Bridge Club, Moccasin Creek Country Club, and Fishers Grove Country Club.

Grateful for having shared Lois’s life are her children: Jan and Erv Schoppe’s family include: Brent and Pam Taylor (Marin and Nathan); Jay and Jessica Schoppe (Jayson and Jude); Brady and Ann Erickson (Esme, Henrick, Scarlet, Audrey, and Knox); Dan and Kellie Schoppe (Ari and Eva). Lon (and his partner Jon Ramlo) Clemensen’s family include; Reagan and Meghan Clemensen (Mila, Vaya, and Crew); and Rob and Robyn Green. Hal and Terri Clemensen’s family include: Dane and Amy Schmiesing (Sloane and Cora); and Owen and Maggie Collette. Lois is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Preceding Lois in death are her parents Ted and Mabel Carlson, husband Robert Clemensen, and sister Ramona Becker.
