Linda Jean Siefkes, 81, of Aberdeen, SD, died Saturday, May 4, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Linda Jean (Spurr) Siefkes, daughter of Cyrus and Lucille (Johnson) Spurr was born on December 22, 1942 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She lived with her family on the farm north of Houghton, South Dakota. This is the area she was raised and attended school, graduating from Hecla High School with the class of 1960. That is also the year she was the Snow Queen for Hecla, complete with a pink cotton candy tulle gown. After graduation from high school, she attended Dakota Wesleyan for a year, and 1 year at the Aberdeen School of Commerce.

Linda married Erwin “Erv” Siefkes on November 8th, 1964 at the Congregational Church in Houghton. They made their home in Aberdeen. She was employed at the Aberdeen National Bank until the spring of 1966. From that point on she was a full-time mother and worked alongside her husband in all of his endeavors, be it Evergreen Supply or the farming operation. After they retired they spent their winters in Sarasota, Florida. Erv passed away in March of 2010, Linda continued to split her time between the two homes for many years prior to her death.

Linda was proud of her involvement as a Hospice Volunteer for 10+ years. And the 50+ years she spent as a member of the Good Cheer circle.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter Susan Siefkes and son Ryan (Laura) Siefkes. Her granddaughters “Miss Perfect” Kelsie Siefkes (Mason Stark) and “Miss Wonderful” Gabriella Siefkes and “Bonus” granddaughter Grace Seyer. Brother Mahlon (Linda) Spurr and sister-in-law Karen Siefkes.
