Joycel Goodrich


Joycel Goodrich, 86, Aberdeen passed away at Bethesda Nursing Home on Monday, October 17th.
Joycel Johnson was born on May 17th, 1936, in Britton, SD to Clarence and Harriet (Carlson) Johnson and resided on her parent’s farm with her two Brothers Darrel and Dennis. She attended Groton High School, graduating with the class of 1955.
On September 1, 1956, Joycel married Monte Goodrich at Augustana Lutheran Church in Claremont, SD and they moved to Aberdeen. She began classes at Northern State Teachers College and worked for Aberdeen National Bank, The Foster Grandparent Program and Miller-Huebl Funeral Home.
For twenty years, they spent summers at their lake home at Enemy Swim and winters in AZ and TX. Joycel had an appreciation of antiques and the collection of them and loved playing bridge, baking and entertaining.
Joycel was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1962, The Aberdeen Elks Lodge, The Eastern Star, Red Hats, Questers, Sons of Norway and The International Retractable Club for Ford Skyliners.
Grateful for having shared Joycel’s life are her two sons and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Monte, parents, Clarence and Harriet Johnson, two Brothers, Darrel and Dennis Johnson, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
