Howard Plummer, Jr., 89 of Parker, formally of Columbia, passed away on February 24, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.

Howard Plummer, Jr. was born on June 5, 1934, to Howard and Myrtle (Richardson) Plummer at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. He was the oldest of 6 children. They lived in the Westport area before moving to the family farm near Columbia. He joined the Army in 1953. After he was Honorably Discharged in 1959, Howard returned to the farm where he worked with his two brothers, Ed and Doug.

On May 3, 1959, Howard was united in marriage to Irene Kempf. To this union they had 3 children James, Janeen, and Julie.  Howard and Irene lived and worked on the farm for over 40 years raising crops and cattle.  Howard also worked from time to time helping neighboring farmers.  They eventually moved to the Parker area to be closer to their family. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Howard will be missed. He is survived by his children James (Lisa) Plummer, Tyndall, SD, Janeen (Don) Rang, and Julie Plummer, all of Parker; 5 grandchildren, Garrett (Danica), Danielle (Robert), Matt, Emily, and Austin (Briana); 7 great grandchildren, Karsten, Madisen, Braelyn, Asher, Kinnley, Layten and Gracelyn, sister Ardell Henry of Nevada, IA, and several nieces and nephews.  

Howard is preceded in death by his parents Howard Sr. and Myrtle Plummer; his wife Irene; 3 brothers Duane, Edward, and Douglas and 1 sister Olive Walsh
