Gordon D. Safgren, 83 from Jordan, MN (formally of Aberdeen, SD) passed away peacefully on Saturday November 5, 2022. Born on March 31, 1939 in Sisseton, SD to Oscar and Alice (Eggestein) Safgren.

Gordon graduated from Sisseton High School in 1957 and served in the Army Reserves before attending Northern State Teaching College (NSU) in Aberdeen, SD. He continued his education from the Institute of Applied Sciences from Chicago, IL for Fingerprint Technology. He married Verle Odden also from Sisseton on September 3, 1961.  A 3rd generation police officer, he served as a member on the Aberdeen Police Department, from 1960 – 1987 while spending most of his career as Captain of Records.

Gordon and Verle moved from Aberdeen, SD to Lower Bottle Lake near Park Rapids, MN in 1996 to enjoy retirement in the Minnesota lake country. In 2018 Gordon and Verle moved to Jordon, MN to be closer to family.  He enjoyed country music and attended many We-Fest concerts. Gordon was known for his clever sarcasm and his long good-byes.

Gordon will be deeply missed by his wife Verle of 61 years, sons; Todd (Karen) of Eden Prairie, MN, Scott (Asea) of Prior Lake, MN and Karen (Todd) Husom of Crystal, MN, grandchildren; Tawnie (Dan) Manther, Meagan (Layton)Umpleby, Balor and Keegan Husom, Tyler and Samuel Safgren, great-great grandchildren; Beau and Lily Manther, Sadie, Emmie and Rory Umpleby, Sister; Ruth Seal, Maplewood, MN and Brother; Harold Safgren, Rapid City, SD.

Gordon was proceeded in death by his parents, Oscar and Alice, Brother in-law, Vern Seal and Sister in-law, Shirley Safgren.
