Gary Larson

Gary Larson, 66, of Aberdeen, died Tuesday, July 25, at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.
Gary Larson was born August 28, 1956, to Wayne and Doris (Ryman) Larson in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school through the 5th grade, then finished his schooling in Aberdeen graduating from Central High School in 1974. In his younger years, Gary was active in 4-H showing cattle and played Little League Baseball.
On February 14, 1975, Gary was united in marriage to Sally Ann Fiedler in Aberdeen. Gary worked at Safeguard for several years while he was starting farming on his own. He became an independent full-time farmer but over the years worked together with his father and brothers.
Gary loved farming. He was a true cattleman, and his quality work was noticed by others. He had a good sense of humor and was a great story teller which often led him to teasing and playing tricks on his son, daughter, grandkids, nieces, and nephews. Their family always took time away from the farm to go on a family vacation. Gary was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and the teams his son Jeff coached. His dogs and cats had a special place in his heart. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family.
Grateful for having shared Gary’s life are his wife, Sally Larson; his children: Jeff (Staci) Larson and Rachel (Justin) Dell; his grandchildren: Amalia Larson, Gage Sauvage, and Alaina Dell; siblings: Roger Larson, Neil (Roberta) Larson, and Lori (Greg) Schilling; his sisters-in-law: Lana (Myron) Zoellner and Kathy (Boz) Gross; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gary in death are his parents: Wayne and Doris Larson; his in-laws: Norman and Lorraine Fiedler; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brothers-in-law: Mike Fiedler and Dick Fiedler.
