Edna L. Ernst


Edna L. Ernst, 94, of Aberdeen died Thursday, September 8th, 2022 at Angelhaus of Aberdeen.
Edna L. Wiederrich was born February 25th, 1928, to Jacob and Theresia (Raugutt) Wiederrich at Monango, ND., where she was raised and attended school. Edna was baptized June 1928, and confirmed May 1941 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monango.
Edna married Melvin Ernst of Roscoe, SD on October 17th, 1954 in Aberdeen. Edna worked for Sears-Roebuck for several years, until 1960 when she decided to stay at home to raise her children. Melvin passed away March 21st, 2007 and Edna continued to make Aberdeen her home. Edna was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.
Edna enjoyed crocheting, crafts, ceramics, coin collecting, and tours. Edna traveled to Germany, England, Italy, France, the New England States, and the Holy Land where Jesus was born and lived. Edna’s favorite saying was “Germs and Jesus are everywhere, so wash your hands and say your prayers.” Edna’s greatest joy was her Grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, four sisters, and one son-in-law.
Surviving Edna are one son Ronald (Joan) Ernst, Aberdeen, SD; one daughter Patti (Jon) Mesmer Aberdeen, SD; four Grandchildren; Ben Ernst, Luke (Brittany) Mesmer, Sam Mesmer, and Jennifer (Grant) Ozaki; two sisters-in-law, Billie Wiederrich of Oregon; and Shirley Guthmiller of Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews.
