Donelda Schlosser, 75 of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Aberdeen, SD surrounded by family.

A celebration of life will be held at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Jacobson officiating.  A luncheon and a time of fellowship will follow the service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the luncheon.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook. Services will be recorded and posted to Schriver’s website following the service.

Donelda was born to Donald and Lorraine Gilland (Hoff) on December 21, 1948 in Aberdeen, SD.  She was the third daughter born of the five children. Donelda attended school in Mobridge, SD.  The family moved to Aberdeen in 1965.  Donelda worked at the Ward Hotel, Bethesda Nursing Home, and local restaurants.  Donelda was previously married to William Schlosser and they made their home at Wylie Park in Aberdeen where they raised their children.  They had two daughters, Darnelda (Dar) and Penny.  She was engaged to Harold Peterson of Aberdeen, SD until the time of his passing.

Donelda enjoyed spending time with her mother, her siblings, her children, her grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.  She loved walking outdoors and camping. She had a special love for horses and dogs.  She also loved to watch basketball and football.  Donelda also enjoyed volunteering at the Aberdeen Living Center for many years.

Grateful for having shared Donelda’s life are her mother Lorraine Gilland of Aberdeen, her two daughters: Darnelda (Patrick) Patterson of Aberdeen, and Penny (Tim) Lefforge of Mansfield, SD; Four grandchildren: Taylor Patterson of Aberdeen, Cody (Paige) Lefforge of Mellette, SD, Tanner Patterson of Tea, SD, and Kaitlyn Lefforge of Sioux Falls, SD; three Sisters: Janis Gilland of Casper, WY, Arlinda Gloss of Aberdeen, and Sandy (Bob) Jakober of Aberdeen; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Darcy Albrecht that touched her life.

Donelda was preceded in death by her father Donald Gilland, her fiancé Harold Peterson, her brother James Gilland, and her brother-in-law Robert Gloss.
