Derald ‘Jack’ Lout, 82, of Aberdeen, SD, died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his home in Aberdeen.

Derald ‘Jack’ Lout was born on November 11, 1940 along with his twin brother Jerald ‘Jim’ to John and Marie (Forkel) Lout on the family farm in Onaka, SD. He had two sisters and three other brothers. He grew up in this area and attended a small country school until the family moved to Aberdeen when he was about 15 years old.

On March 2, 1960, Jack married Karen Severson and they had two daughters, Kathy and Vicki. Jack worked various jobs including Lien Construction and Milwaukee Railroad. He helped his brother Marvin plow snow in the winters. Jack and Karen moved to California in 1987, where he worked for the State Sand and Gravel until they moved back to Aberdeen in 1997. Here, he worked for Hall Sand and Gravel until he retired in 2017.

Jack enjoyed country western music and his favorite singer was George Jones. His favorite pastime was having coffee with his friends and family at Marlins Restaurant. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church at New Life Fellowship. He also enjoyed grilling and sitting on the porch with Karen, who passed in 2016.

Grateful for having shared Jack's life are his daughter, Kathy Lout; grandchildren: Britney Lout, Keyauna Lout and Brandon Lout; great grandchildren Michelle Lout-Fisher, Erica May and Rose Lout; siblings: Raymond (Idella) Lout, Donald Lout and Joyce Miller, and Delores Severson; special friends, Gary Goebel, Eugene Davoll and Joseph Fischer; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jack in death are his wife Karen Lout; parents John and Marie Lout; daughter Vicki Goebel; and siblings: Margie Feiock, Marvin Lout and Jerald ‘Jim’ Lout.
