Delores D. Buechler, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Prairie Heights Healthcare, Aberdeen.

Delores Dona Reuer was born on December 30, 1932, to Rudolph and Katherine (Buxel) Reuer on the family farm near Lowry, SD. She attended Irving Country Schools and later graduated from Hoven High School.

On January 18, 1953, Delores married Ervin H. Buechler. Together, they raised seven children: Arle, Debra, Carrie, Becky, Leslie, Sandra, and Jerry. Over the years, the family lived on several farms in the Walworth County area before eventually settling in Aberdeen in 1983.

Life on the farm was busy, with crops to tend to, livestock to care for, and dairy cows to milk. Delores did it all, helping with chores, keeping a tidy home, and somehow finding time to maintain a vegetable garden and bake treats that are still talked about today.

Delores enjoyed a good game of Texas Hold ’Em and never missed a chance to cheer on her Minnesota Twins, though she didn’t hesitate to let them know when they could’ve played better.

Delores will be remembered for her warmth, grit, and spunkiness. Her love lives on in the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to know her.

Delores is survived by her children: Arle Buechler of Aberdeen, SD, Debra (Dave) Pfitzer of Aberdeen, SD, Carrie (Brad) Westphal of Lincoln, NE, Becky (Tim) Ruzsa of Selby, SD, Leslie (Rick) Young of Aberdeen, SD, Sandra (Dick) Hageman of North Pole, AK, and Jerry (Pat) Buechler of Bath, SD; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings: Alfred (Carol) Reuer of Sioux Falls, SD, Marina (Lenny) Gross of Burnsville, MN, and Norbie (Barb) Reuer of Faulkton, SD; and all her in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ervin, and five siblings: Harvey, Rollie, Orvie, Arleth, and Doris Jean, who died in infancy.
