Dave Lilly


Dave W. Lilly, 76, of Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, January 22, at Avera McKennan Hospital, in Sioux Falls, SD.
David W. Lilly was born March 24, 1948, to Harry and Marion (Warner) Lilly in Aberdeen. He grew up in Aberdeen and attended OM Tiffany, Monroe Middle School, and Aberdeen Central High School. After high school, Dave worked at the Holiday Inn washing dishes. He then attended Vo Tech in Watertown, SD, where he learned to work on modern equipment such as typewriters and cash registers.
He joined the US Army and received special training for repairing electronics. Dave served in Okinawa, Japan during his time in service and returned to Aberdeen after his receiving his honorable discharge.
He worked at Modern Business Machines in Aberdeen. He later moved to Bismark, ND, where he held several jobs before ending up at Bankers Business Machines. He transferred to Mobridge, SD, close to his retirement due to his love of fishing. In 2021, he had to move back to Aberdeen to receive medical treatment. He lived with his brother Harry for a couple of years.
Dave loved fishing for which he earned many rewards and gave tours on the river. He was an avid hunter, hunting Pheasant, Deer, Antelope, and Geese. He also enjoyed golfing.
Grateful for having shared Dave’s life are his siblings: Gayle Lilly, Sharon Pietz, Sandi (Dennis) Hawks, Harry Lilly, Jr. (Doris Byington), and Paul Lilly, and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding Dave in death are his parents: Harry and Marion Lilly, and his siblings: Judy Dennert, Ava Kumpf and Wayne Lilly.
