Curtiss C. Job

Curtiss Job, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, formerly Leola, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, SD.
Curtiss Carl Job was born on October 16th, 1932 in McPherson County to Carl and Christina Job.
While farming with his Dad he was drafted into the army on March 25th, 1953. He was honorably discharged on March 26th, 1955. While home on leave on December 20th, 1953 he was united in marriage to Arlene (Mohr) Job in the Jehovah Lutheran Church Northeast of Hosmer, SD. After his discharge he took over the farm. This is where they started their lives together farming and raising their family.
In 1971 they bought the Harry Hoffman farm west of Leola. They farmed there until 2008. In 2009 they moved to Aberdeen, where they resided for 15 years.
Curtiss was a member of Aldersgate Church, a lifetime member of the Leola American Legion, and a supporter of America’s Veterans.
Some of Curtiss’ hobbies were watching westerns, shooting gophers, watching the baby calves run and buck, break and ride horses, bake, cook, and ride his scooter.
Curtiss was quite the gabber and could strike up a conversation with almost anybody.
He was a father, brother, brother-in-law, grandpa, great grandpa, and a friend. He was definitely one of a kind and he will be missed, but his memories will live on in our hearts forever.
Grateful for having shared Curtiss’ life are his children, Sonja (Job) Lapka, Carlton (DeeAnn) Job, Warren (Denice) Job, Timothy Job, and Lance Job; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores Heupel and Vern Job; and many more loving friends and family.
Preceding Curtiss in death are his parents, Carl and Christina Job; wife, Arlene Job; siblings, Elmer (Elnora) Job, Velma (Hilton) Mehlhoff, and Melvin (Florence) Boschee; and many more loving in-laws.
