Billie Lou Goehring, Britton, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton at the age of 77.

Billie Lou Fetters was born December 21, 1944 in Sioux Falls, SD to George and Esther (Hubert) Fetters. She grew up on the family farm near Hecla, SD and loved playing with all the small animals, especially the ducks and chickens. She attended Will Dinger School in Hecla in her younger years. In 1962 she graduated from Stewart High School in Minnesota. After graduation she married Arnold Holtz and they made their home in Minnesota.

She moved back to the Hecla area and married Melvin Ridder in 1966. For a number of years she was a cook at the Britton hospital and also at the VFW. That is where she truly found her passion for cooking.

In 1980 she married Bruce Goehring and they made their home in Aberdeen. While there she worked for 3M for about 13 years. She was a hard worker and was always ready to help out wherever she could or was needed.

Family was important to Billie and she enjoyed anytime she was able to spend with them. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved sharing with family and friends. A new recipe brought her excitement and she was always willing to expand her cookbook. When she wasn’t making delicious food she enjoyed fishing, playing cards and putting puzzles together. She loved her dogs and they were great company throughout the years.

In 2016 she became a resident of Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. While there she received excellent care and made many friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Wheatcrest for giving Billie such wonderful care these last six years. She was a loving person to all and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her sister, Deloris Bruns of Langford; her brother-in-law, Tony Kvasnicka of Aberdeen; as well as many nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and a very special friend, Ken Schumaker.

She was preceding in death by her parents; two infant brothers; her sisters, Carol Kvasnicka and Lila Meyer; brothers-in-law, Roy Meyer and Robert Bruns; and dear friend, Dennis Arneson.
