Beverly Jean (Behm) Mitchener, (formerly of Aberdeen, South Dakota), passed away peacefully at Milestone Senior Living in Rhinelander on November 29, 2022, at the age of 91.

She was born in Mondamin, Iowa on January 14, 1931, to Charles and Frankie (Griffin) Behm. Beverly moved many times throughout the Midwest during her youth, graduating with the high school class of 1948 in Rocky River, Ohio, and from Iowa State University in 1952. She earned her degree in Home Economics with an emphasis on textiles. Bev often quipped that she was the only Home Economics major that did not like to cook. She was a talented and accomplished seamstress with an extraordinary eye for color and fashion. This gift served her well as a retail buyer for women’s sportswear in several department stores over the years.

Bev also was an accomplished Bridge player and loved playing cards with family and friends.

She married Albert G. Mitchener Jr. in Rocky River, Ohio on September 29, 1956. Together they raised three children, moving the family from Woodland Hills, CA, to Rocky River, OH, to Scituate, MA. They instilled in their children the love of travel and the appreciation of the beauty of our nation. In 1986, Beverly and Albert moved to, and subsequently retired in Aberdeen, SD. They traveled the country in their motorhome, affectionately called “The Bus”. These excursions provided opportunities to meet new friends from all over the nation. Beverly moved to Rhinelander in 2019.

She is survived by daughters, Lynne (Tom) Trochlil of Rhinelander, and Kathleen Batch of Chaska, MN, son, James Mitchener of Aberdeen, SD, grandsons, Steven (Patricia) Trochlil of Norwood, PA, Cody (Hannah) Batch of Bloomington, MN, Kyle (Emma) Batch of Eden Prairie, MN, granddaughters, Leslie Trochlil of De Pere, WI, Kimberly (Gabriel) Boehne of Rochester, MN, Lauren Mitchener and Megan Mitchener of Aberdeen, SD, and great-granddaughter, Mary Catherine Trochlil of Norwood, PA.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Mitchener, and her parents.
