Died on: April 13, 2018

Violet Olson, Aberdeen, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at ManorCare in Aberdeen at the age of 90.

Violet “Vi” Olson was born October 25, 1927 in Gackle, ND to Fred and Martha (Moos) Spilloway. As a youngster, she grew up and attended school in Gackle. In 1945, she moved with her family to the Langford area.

On August 3, 1947 Violet was united in marriage with Milton “Matt” Olson. They farmed in the Pierpont area and welcomed three children into their family – Douglas, James and Pamela.

Violet was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years. Over the years Vi had worked at a number of different jobs, but especially enjoyed being an AVON representative. She was a longtime member of the Community Church in Pierpont and later transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. Violet enjoyed watching Minnesota Wild Hockey matches and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins. Perhaps most of all, she liked visiting with friends and family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son James (Arlene) Olson of Andover; a daughter, Pam Donovan of Andover; her grandchildren: Jennifer Olson, Jamie (Chris) Olson, Carla (Chad) Burgess; her great-grandchildren: Talen James Olson, Kyrell Jayce Baker, Beckham Matthew Olson, and Arthur Matthew Burgess; two sisters, Vera Goehring and Marjie Neumann; her very special friend and neighbor, Cheryl Graff; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
