Ruth Tribble, 91, Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, November 18, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.

Ruth Louise Hein was born April 29, 1929, to William and Anna (Schroeder) Hein in Pierpont, SD. She was raised on the family farm near Andover, SD. She attended country school and then Andover High School. During her senior year in high school Ruth met a newcomer to Andover, Art Tribble. Art soon became the love of Ruth’s life.

On September 17, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to Art in Andover, SD. They went on to enjoy a 70-year love story. To this union four children were born. Ruth worked as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 32 years. She was a member of the local chapter of Telephone Pioneers of America. Ruth retired at the age of 52 when the local telephone office was closed.

Retirement gave Ruth the opportunity to explore new hobbies and she enjoyed calligraphy, card stamping, coffee with friends, and going to rummage sales. Most often you could find Ruth in the kitchen cooking, baking, and canning. Each year she put up hundreds of jars of canned goods and she was famous for her pickles. Ruth especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren who loved to hear her stories of the “olden days.”

After Art’s retirement, the two were inseparable. They traveled extensively visiting family and friends while seeing all but four states. They enjoyed taking in their grandchildren’s activities and were always present at special events. They were 70-year members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.

Grateful for having shared Ruth’s life are her children: Cindy (Joe) Jungman, Hartford, SD, Doug (Connie) Tribble, Sioux Falls, SD, Lynn Tribble, Aberdeen, SD, and Char (Craig) Arneson, Fort Pierre, SD; grandchildren: Becky (Matt) Diischer, Chad (Amanda) Jungman, Aaron (Jessica) Tribble, Josh (Angelica) Tribble, Matt Tribble (fiancé Ana Vanroekel), Anna (Kris) Kwak, Tacha (Josh) Artz, and Megan (Daquan) Brooks; great-grandchildren: Estella, Felix and Theo Jungman, Ariana, Mikayla and Andrew Tribble, JJ and Cameron Joy Tribble, Bryleigh Artz, Auburn Rave and a great-grandson due in February; her sister: Erna Sannes; and brother: Donald (Nancy) Hein.
