Ronald “Pete” Herman, 69, of Aberdeen, SD, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.

Ronald James Herman was born July 6, 1947, the oldest of twelve children, to LeVern C. and Anna Marie (Frost) Herman at Hoven, SD. He was raised in the Tolstoy/Lebenon area until, at the age of 7, he moved with his family to Aberdeen. Following school he went right to work for Herman House Moving. Pete met Connie Kurtz at Skateland in 1970. They fell in love and he made her his wife on September 29, 1973.

Pete experienced a variety of jobs including working at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Menards, roofing, and following his retirement in 2011 from Herman House Moving. After a short retirement he went to work for Hub City Livestock.

Pete enjoyed fishing, especially with Grandpa Frost, going to the races, watching softball and hockey, doing yardwork, and having the fire pit going. He volunteered at the Brown County Fair driving the golf cart. One of his favorite pastimes was having coffee at Marlin’s with his many coffee buddies.

Grateful for having shared Ronald’s life are his wife of 43 years, Connie Herman, Aberdeen; daughters: Laurie Herman and Paul Church, Aberdeen, Megan Herman, Aberdeen, Kara Herman, Brooklyn Center, MN; granddaughters: Krystina Church and Brittani Church; siblings: Linda Jensen, James (Kathi) Herman, Doug Herman, Cal Herman, Richard (Gerri) Herman, COL (R) Michael Herman, John Herman, Robert (Kathleen) Herman, Scott Herman (Wanda Anderson) and Nickole Herman.

Preceding Ronald in death are his parents: LeVern and Anna Herman, grandson, Austin Joseph, sister, Kathy Vance, and mother-in-law Beverly Lout.
