Mildred Dummer, Aberdeen, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the age of 91, at Avera St. Luke’s.

A native of Lidgerwood, ND, Mildred was a proud second generation Czech from a large family including 9 siblings. She left the family homestead to attend North Dakota State University where she studied home economics. She taught in McIntosh where she met her husband. Ned and Mildred were married for 58 years until his passing in 2007. The couple lived in Phillip, Parker, Watertown, and eventually settled in Aberdeen in the home where she lived for 44 years until her passing.

Mildred was a member and regular attender of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She will be remembered for her delicious baked goods and expertise with the sewing needle. Mildred enjoyed designing and sewing her own creations. Tea rings, Kolache, and cookies were sought after whenever company stopped at “Mil’s Diner.” Mildred was a lifelong learner who enjoyed computers, piano, new sewing gadgets. She was an avid follower of politics and current events. Mildred enjoyed playing cards, particularly a good game of bridge.

Mildred is survived by 4 siblings, Blanche Kaspari, Agnes Marx, Mary Wisnewski, and Marcy Rubey, all 4 of her children, Roger Dummer, Paul Dummer, Susan (Dean) Aurand and Laurie (Bart) Torbert, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ned, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Rose, Frank, Lllian, Stanley and Ernest and a great granddaughter, Norah.
