Marianne Voigt, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, died peacefully on Thursday, May 9, surrounded by her family, at Angelhaus in Aberdeen.

Marianne was born to Arthur and Lilly (Besuchet) Glarum in Britton, SD. She was raised on a farm nearBrampton, ND. After graduating from Brampton High School, she attended Wahpeton State School of Science, completing a secretarial degree. She then moved to Aberdeen, and worked at the First National Bank, where she met several lifelong friends.

In October 1947 she married the love of her life, Donald E. Voigt. They were happily married for 56 years until his death in 2003. Marianne loved socializing with family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards of all kinds and belonged to several bridge clubs. Marianne enjoyed traveling and took trips to Europe and around the United States. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of her roses. She enjoyed going on walks with her neighbors. Marianne was a member of the Elkettes and longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Grateful for having shared Marianne’s life are her children: Susan (Eloy) Malsom, Pickerel Lake, SD, Claudette Vance, Whitefish, MT, Kristi (Doug) Smith, Sioux Falls, SD, and Jeff (Celeste) Voigt, Aberdeen, SD; five grandchildren: Scott Malsom, Brett (Tracie) Malsom, Cameron Vance, Dr. Tara (Travis) Haarsma, Jennifer (Mark) Benedetto, and step-grandchildren Michael Centenaro and Josh Centenaro; nine great-grandchildren: Mason, Garett, Cole and Dylan Malsom, Lilliana and Brielle Benedetto, Westyn and Berkley Haarsma, and Lilly Centenaro; sisters-in-law Vivian Locken, Aberdeen, SD and Jean Walter, Groton, SD and brother-in-law Durwood Thayer, Billings, MT.

Preceding Marianne in death are her parents; her husband Don, three sisters: Eunice Kupitz, Lucille Marcuson, and Doris Thayer; brother: Leroy Glarum; brothers-in-law: Richard Kupitz, Kenneth Marcuson, Ervin Pasch, Lawrence Larson, Bev “Doc” Voigt, Robert Voigt, Leroy Locken and Vernon Walter; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Pasch, Myrtis Larson, Lucille Voigt and Jill Glarum.
