Karen A. Lout, 73, of Aberdeen, SD died Wednesday, January 20, at her home.

Karen Lout was born October 5, 1942, to Delbert and Mable Cox Severson in Britton, SD. They later moved to Aberdeen where she attended school.

On March 2, 1961, Karen married Derald “Jack” Lout in Aberdeen. To this marriage two daughters were born. She worked as a waitress and nurse’s aide all of her life, until her health forced her to retire in 2006.

Karen enjoyed going to Bingo at the Eagles Lodge. She liked singing to country western music, and was told she sounded like Patsy Cline and looked like Doris Day. Karen loved sitting on her porch at home, and spending time with her family.

Thankful for having shared Karen’s life is her husband of 54 years, Derald of Aberdeen; two daughters: Kathy Lout of Aberdeen, and Vicki (Gary) Goebel of Aberdeen; three grandchildren: Britney, Keyauna, and Brandon; two great-granddaughters: Michelle and Erica; one brother, Robert (Bonnie) Severson of Huntsville, AL; and one sister, Mary (LeRoy) Hieser of Hartford, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Mable Severson; four brothers Gary Severson, Floyd Severson, William Severson and Howard Cox; four sisters: Dorothy Nelson, Helen Selzer, Shirley Bean, and Jean Bartell.
