Ida Fauth, 101, of Aberdeen, SD, died Monday, November 9, at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.

Ida was born the third of seven children to Gottlieb and Rosina (Walth) Gienger on June 10, 1919. She attended Harrison Township School; near Long Lake, SD. Ida helped her parents on the farm until she turned seventeen. She then worked in Aberdeen for six years before marrying Jacob Fauth on October 3, 1943. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Randall, Leslie, and Duane. One of her proudest accomplishments was compiling and publishing the Gienger Family Tree book, which was updated at many Gienger family reunions.

Ida and Jake farmed until 1973 and then moved to Aberdeen. Ida was employed with Northern State College Food Service for six years, then helped Jake with custodial work at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for the next ten years. After retirement in 1992, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, and grandchildren’s activities. She also quilted with friends at Zion Lutheran Church, where she has been an active member since 1973.

In 1995, she moved to Parkside and enjoyed all the independent living activities and making new friends. In 2017 Ida moved to Bethesda Nursing Home and lived there until the time of her passing.

Grateful for having shared Ida’s life are her children: Randall (Gayle) Fauth, Les (Gayle) Fauth, and Duane (Lizz) Fauth; two sisters: Viola Tetherow and Wilma Zimmerman; twelve grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren,

Preceding Ida in death are parents: Gottlieb & Rosina Gienger; husband Jacob Fauth, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.
