Hazel A. Kurth, 98, of Aberdeen, SD, died Tuesday, February 19, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Hazel A. Kurth was born April 19, 1920, to Herman and Ella (Kempf) Kuhfeld in Warner, SD. She grew up on a farm near Warner and graduated from Warner High School.

On June 10, 1939, Hazel married Raymond Dahme in Huron, SD, and made their home in Aberdeen and raised seven children. They enjoyed fishing, going to barn dances and listening to accordion music, playing card games, and being with family. Hazel worked at 3M for 28 years and fostered over 80 children. Raymond died in 1977.

On August 21, 1983, Hazel married George Kurth in Aberdeen. They continued to make Aberdeen their home and were active members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. George died in 2015.

After retirement Hazel enjoyed many trips, including traveling to Arizona. She often gathered with her neighbors at Carlyle Apartments and went to McDonalds. She enjoyed fellowship and the friends she made. She liked playing Domino’s. Her favorite games were Mexican Train and Chicken Foot. She was a member of the Breakfast Club and Senior Citizen Exercise Club. She loved serving her Lord and volunteering at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church as a quilter or anyway she could.

Grateful for having shared Hazel’s life are her children: Judy (Joe) Scherado, Tacoma, WA; Dennis (Joan) Dahme, Aberdeen; Alan (Pam) Dahme, Bismarck, ND; Curt (LuElla) Dahme, Bismarck, Debra (Doug) Macdonald, Federal Way, WA; Todd (Gloria) Dahme, Aberdeen; seventeen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and sisters: Elvera (Rodger) Bierman, Aberdeen; and Verna Becker, Huron.

Preceding Hazel in death are her husbands, Raymond Dahme and George Kurth; Parents, Herman and Ella Kuhfeld; daughter, Annette Tullar; granddaughter, Christy Dahme; and siblings: Ed, Melvin, and Ervin Kuhfeld, and Delores Georgens.
