DeWayne E. Storley, 82, of Freeman and formerly of Aberdeen died December 27, 2016 at Banner Goldfield Medical Center in Apache Junction, AZ.

DeWayne E. Storley, son of Clarence and Ella (Rasmussen) Storley was born November 11, 1934 in Webster, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Roslyn, SD, graduating from Roslyn High School with the class of 1952. He attended South Dakota State University, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the State of South Dakota in Pierre for the Department of Transportation.

DeWayne was united in marriage to Carol Mae Siglin on June 15, 1958 in the Methodist Church in Webster. They moved to Aberdeen and he became employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) as a Civil Engineer in 1959. In 1960 they moved to Bemidji, MN and relocated to Juneau, AK in 1964. In May of 1969 they returned to Aberdeen and he retired from the BIA in 1979. DeWayne began another career in Insurance working with Dean Karlen from 1979-2000 and then retired again. His wife Carol, died April 28, 2013.

DeWayne was married to Addie Kampa Mohs on June 21, 2014 at Freeman, SD. They made their home in Freeman and traveled extensively to visit family and friends, eventually choosing to winter in Apache Junction, AZ.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an active Mason and member of Yelduz Shrine, where he was Potentate in 1997. He was a past board member of the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Twin Cities in Minneapolis, MN. He was also a former Toastmaster. DeWayne enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and always had a pole ready to go fishing. DeWayne was a Brown County Commissioner for four years and was the first Manager for the Brown County Fair and started the button sales and bringing big name entertainment to the fair.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Addie Mohs of Freeman; daughter, Ann (Steve) Salzer of Willmar, MN; sons, Mike (Sandy) Storley of Dickinson, ND and Reed (Lori) Storley of Watertown; sister, Carolyn (Bill) Snyder of Seville, OH; two brothers, Clayton (Mary Ellen) Storley of Fridley, MN and Laverne (Shirley) Storley of Eden, SD; six grandchildren, Dawn (Jake) Kubela, Ryan Salzer, Taylor Storley, Dylan Storley, Kari (Dan) Blazek and Kendell Fossum; two great-grandchildren, Signe Kubela and Bjorn Kubela; six step-sons and one step-daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol.
