Alice Irene Mohr, 88, of Aberdeen, SD, died Monday, January 9, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Alice Irene Hoffman was born March 26, 1928 to Christ K. and Ida (Bender) Hoffman at Leola, SD. She was baptized on April 29, 1928 at Hope Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 22, 1941 at St. James Lutheran Church at Leola. Alice grew up on the family farm and attended Hoffman Township School.

On May 19, 1946, Alice was united in marriage to Harold Mohr at rural Long Lake, SD. They lived on the family farm until April 11, 1966, when they moved to Aberdeen. Alice worked at various businesses and domestic jobs until retiring. Harold passed away on November 25, 2001 at the age of 75.

Alice has been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since moving to Aberdeen. She served on the Altar Guild and Women of the ELCA. Alice was also a past member of Milwaukee Railroad Women’s Club, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. Alice enjoyed music, cooking, gardening and sewing. She loved visiting with friends and family.

Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are her sons: Milo (Cindy) Mohr, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Rodney Mohr (Sheila Lechner), Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren: Chris (Shane) Jakober, Monica (Ken) Thomas, Michael Mohr and Justin (Sherry) Lechner; two great-grandchildren: Whitney and Olivia Thomas; her son-in-law, Glen Jakober and one sister, Betty Rall, Aberdeen.

Preceding Alice in death are her husband, Harold Mohr, her parents, Christ and Ida Hoffman, and her daughter, Sharon Jakober.
