Kaye Marie Jurgens
Date of Birth: November 02, 1949
Died on: April 29, 2022

Kaye Marie Jurgens, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Kaye Marie Jurgens was born on November 2, 1949, to Kenneth and Carol (Fuhrman) Foley in Fort Dodge, IA. She grew up in Storm Lake, IA before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1961 and then graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1967. She later obtained a bachelors’ degree in teaching from Northern State University in 1971. She practiced teaching for a short time and then became an accountant for James Basin Builders and later Harms/Dakota Oil.

In 1977, Kaye married Larry Jurgens of Milbank. They made their home in Aberdeen, SD and, together, had two children. After retiring in 2010, they spent winters in Arizona.

A compassionate spirit, Kaye gave generously of herself to everyone she encountered. She was an active community member, volunteering for the PTA and serving on the Board for The Resource Center for Woman. A member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Florence, AZ and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen where she volunteered for Adoration at St. Luke’s Chapel. Faith was a cornerstone of Kaye’s life. A true prayer warrior, if you met her, you undoubtedly have been prayed for whether you asked for it or not.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, going for bike rides, traveling, shopping, and reading; but most of all it was about spending time with family and friends. She easily made friends and regularly attended morning coffee with close friends in Aberdeen and Arizona. People were her priority, and she was always available to listen and provide support for family or anyone in need. She had a great love for her grandchildren and enjoyed time with them, always encouraging them, giving scooter rides, and spoiling them with surprises. She lived life with a smile, exhibiting a special kindness and leaving an indelible impact on everyone she met.

Grateful for having shared Kaye’s life are her husband Larry; children: Jessica (Chase) Schmitt of Lakewood, CO and Chad (Jennifer) Jurgens of Aberdeen; grandchildren: Ariana, Avery and Anders Schmitt, Mason and Morgan Jurgens; siblings: Mike (Donna) Foley of Sioux Falls, Pat (Jamie) Hogan of Houston, TX, Larry Foley, Wichita, KS, Linda (Bob) Askren of Sioux Falls, Deb (Ken) Bussmus of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Kaye in death are her parents, Kenneth and Carol Foley.
