Albert L. Hoffman, 94, of Aberdeen, died Friday, March 4, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Albert L. Hoffman was born on December 23, 1921 to John and Emma (Schauer) Hoffman at Leola, SD. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in the area.

Albert was united in marriage to Lavina Schaible on October 4, 1946 at St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, SD. They made their home on a farm near Leola for four years. They then bought Albert’s grandfather’s farm northwest of Leola. In the mid-1960’s, they moved to Aberdeen. He and Lavina bought the Hoffman Apartments. Albert then began working at Malchow’s Home Furnishings as furniture delivery and continued there until retiring in 1986. They took care of the rental properties until he no longer could do it in 2003.

Albert was a past member of St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. He enjoyed making airplanes and ships out of pop cans.

Grateful for having shared Albert’s life are his daughter, Sharon (Jim) Stoecker of Aberdeen, his grandson, DeJay Stoecker (special friend Lisa Kucker) of Watertown, and his sister, Idelette Rath of Aberdeen.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife Lavina, parents, John and Emma, step-mother, Bertha Hess, one sister, Laverna Hoffman and his brother, Richard Hoffman.
