Phyllis L. Schnorr, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, died Tuesday, June 6, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Phyllis L. Miller was born August 29, 1923 to James and Opal (Flöther) Miller in Faulkton, SD. Her family lived in Cresbard, SD but moved to Aberdeen when she was very young. She attended school in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1941. She then earned her degree from Aberdeen Business College and began working at South Dakota Employment Office.

On March 21, 1946, Phyllis was united in marriage to Clifford Schnorr in Aberdeen. They made their home on a farm south of Aberdeen, where they raised small grains, cattle, hogs and chickens. Phyllis quickly adjusted to life on the farm and enjoyed working with Cliff. She always had a large garden and canned vegetables and meat from the farm. Cliff passed away on October 3, 1997.

Phyllis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen where she was active in the Quilt Ladies, Visitation Committee, taught Sunday school and loved helping with the annual bizarre. She was a past member of the Women of the Moose. For over 50 years, Phyllis was a member of the Loyal West Gem Extension Club. Phyllis loved animals and was also a member of the Aberdeen Area Humane Society where she helped with the 2nd Paw Sales and other events. Phyllis and Cliff were avid bowlers and were members of the Lutheran League. During her time at Bethesda, Phyllis enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting with her friends.

Grateful for having shared Phyllis’ life are her son, Ralph Schnorr, St. Paul, MN, her daughter, Nancy Upton, Aberdeen, a step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Frank) LaPolla, Aurora, CO, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents, James and Opal Miller, her husband, Cliff Schnorr, two sisters: Nettie Johnson and Patty Grylich, and seven brothers: James, Dale, Ray, Dan “Warren”, Tom, Robert and Jerry Miller.
